Photobooth Prop Ideas - Beyond the Mustache on a Stick
70What's With the Mustache on a Stick Obsession?
I admit it. I have a problem with this peculiar addiction, too. I love mustaches on sticks. Chaplin, Sellick, Yosemite Sam...They're fun, especially when the pretty little flower girl or the sophisticated bride starts goofing around with them. However, maybe it is time to look at some other props for our photobooths, huh?
Now, settle down. I'm not saying go cold turkey here. I'm just saying maybe we should add a few more props to our piles of mustaches and lips on sticks. You can even put a lot of your new props on sticks. Props on sticks out the wazoo.
If you are ready to move beyond the glorious stache, read on.
DIY Photobooth Prop Idea
Candy On a Stick or Off Is Great in a Photobooth
I made some really fun cotton candy on a stick recently. It was really simple to do. I just sprayed some fiberfil with red fabric paint lightly enough so that it looked pink, let it dry and then gently rolled and smooshed it onto a stick. I put glue on the stick before I started rolled and then ran a line of glue down the edge of the fiberfil at the end so that it wouldn't unravel.
If you have some styrofoam cone shapes, you can decorate them with pretty scrapbooking papers or fabric and push the stick into them to make a cone holder instead.
Huge lollipops and giant wrapped candy made from paper or sheets of fun foam would also be a hit with sugar lovers of all ages. And what about enormous popsicles made from painted foamcore?
Hair on Sticks - Perfect for Protecting Styled Hair
I have wigs and hats for the photobooth. Don't we all? But they can really wreck beautifully styled hair. That's okay. A quick search on Etsy will give you a nice assortment of wigs and hats on sticks that will keep hair in place while letting whoever is using the booth have some funky fun.
You can easily make your own hair sticks if you have the patience, though. It is basically the same as making a mustache. You'll just need a bigger piece of felt and foamcore.
Glasses on Sticks and More
You know those really funky glasses with the broken arm? Break the other arm off, too and glue those rims to a stick. Reading glasses are great for this because they are so cheap. Go big, go bold and you can't go wrong. Don't forget to take out the glass, too.
Of course, if you like the more cartoony look, you can once again whip out your foamcore and make fake glasses to put on sticks.
Artificial Birds, Toy Dinosaurs and Puppets
Artificial bluebirds, old toy dinosaurs and a ton of other "junk" you wouldn't normally look at twice can add a lot of fun to a photobooth. Don't forget to put them on sticks, now...
To really help guests get in the slightly silly mood of the typical photobooth user, you may want to add a few puppets as props, too.
